Development of an innovative ICT product by MB Modernus verslas to create a market-ready Transport Management System (TMS).
MB Modernus verslas is implementing a project aimed at developing an innovative Transport Management System (TMS) that helps logistics companies digitize processes, reduce administrative errors, and optimize resource allocation. The intended result is a market-ready, cloud-based (SaaS) product tailored for freight forwarders, cargo operators, and logistics companies operating in both the Lithuanian and international markets.
The project plans to finalize the development of the TMS, replacing inefficient processes (manual data entry in Excel, phone calls) with automated, real-time data management. The system will integrate a specialized mobile inspection app and ensure seamless data exchange with customs and port systems, thereby minimizing delays—up to 36% of which are caused by human error.
Expected Results:
Features
- A fully functional SaaS product developed with staging and production environments, ensuring 99.9% system availability.
- Implementation of core features: transport planning, real-time shipment tracking, resource allocation, and a mobile cargo inspection app with offline functionality.
- Guaranteed integrations via open APIs with external systems such as Portbase (Rotterdam and Amsterdam ports), customs brokerage platforms, and accounting software.
- The system will comply with GDPR data security requirements and be adapted to local tax and customs regulations.
Testing
- Pilot trials conducted with active logistics companies, fully migrating their daily operations to the TMS environment.
- Systematic bug fixing and optimization based on feedback from early adopters and logistics coordinators.
- Proven scalability of the solution: it is expected that at least one company with a team of 10+ employees will use the system, with over 2,500 containers tracked and 10,000+ transport vehicles delivered.
Metrics
- Reduced administrative burden and human error probability, directly lowering delay costs (averaging €100 per day).
- 100% digitized document management and real-time visibility across the entire supply chain (sea, air, and land transport).
- Capability to serve at least 100 active users simultaneously during the first stage of operations.
Plan
- Prepared and implemented market penetration strategy targeting 8–10% of the Lithuanian logistics market (approximately 140–210 companies) within the first few years.
- Launched official website with virtual demo versions and active LinkedIn communication for client acquisition.
- Established a sales funnel including automated direct campaigns and priority user onboarding.
The project is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU
